How long does monkey bread keep?
This apple pie monkey bread will keep well for 3-4 days in an airtight container, though it is best enjoyed within 1-2 days. Store it at room temperature.
Can you freeze monkey bread?
If you have any leftovers (lucky you!) you can freeze them for a later date. Wrap securely in foil and plastic wrap to protect it from freezer burn and it will keep well for 1-2 months. Thaw at room temperature to serve.
What’s the best apple pie filling to use in baking?
For ease and convenience, I use a store-bought can of apple pie filling. If you like, you can make your own filling too, check out my apple pie recipe for a delicious homemade option.
Do you have to make monkey bread in a bundt pan?
Monkey bread is traditionally made in a bundt pan as it helps it to cook evenly through. You can bake it in a loaf or bread pan, just ensure that it’s cooked all the way through. If the top browns too quickly you can cover the top loosely with foil.
Tips!
- Grease the pan well before adding in the cinnamon roll and apple pie filling.
- Make sure that your oven is fully preheated before baking the bread so it cooks through evenly.
- Leftovers can be warmed through in the oven at 360°F for 5-10 minutes.
Monkey bread has never been easier to make! 3 ingredients, 10 minutes of prep, and one delicious breakfast to serve to the table!

Ingredients
- 24.8 ounces refrigerated cinnamon rolls 703 grams (2 12.4-ounce cans)
- 21 ounces apple pie filling 595 grams (1 can)
- Cinnamon Roll Icing from the cinnamon roll cans
Recommended Equipment
Kitchen Scale (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Cut each of the cinnamon rolls into quarters.
24.8 ounces refrigerated cinnamon rolls
Chop the apple filling so you get bite-size chunks. I like to take my kitchen shears to help get this job done.
21 ounces apple pie filling
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cinnamon bun pieces and apple filling.
Grease a bunt pan with nonstick spray. Pour the apple mixture into the pan and spread it evenly.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until it’s golden brown.
Allow the pan to cool for 5 minutes. While the pan is still warm, carefully place a plate over the pan and flip the monkey bread onto that plate. Drizzle with the icing from the cinnamon roll tubes. Serve warm and enjoy!
